If you are looking to add a restaurant or bar menu to your website, you have a few options.
- Create a standalone "Menu" page using the platform tools
- Upload a PDF menu
- Embed a third-party menu widget
Create a standalone "Menu" page
You can isolate a menu to its own specific page. Creating a menu on a separate page, you can further capitalize on search engine optimization (SEO) to help drive organic traffic to your website.
- Select the Pages tab at the top of the Websites app.
- Click the + Add A Page button at the top of the page.
- Check the box next to the Menu page type. Click Add to confirm the selection.
- A new page titled "Menu" will appear at the bottom of the page. Click on the page title to open it.
- The Menu page comes pre-built with a Menu items content block. Click the Add a Menu Item to begin adding items.
- When you add a menu item, you have the option to edit the item's name, add a description, denote the price, and add an image.
To create separate menu categories (such as "Lunch", "Dinner", "Drinks", etc.), you can create separate Menu items content blocks. To do this:
- Select the (+) button at the bottom of the page or in between the content blocks.
- Select Menu items to create another Menu items block.
Upload a PDF menu
You may wish to upload your menu as a PDF. By creating your menu in a PDF, you have greater control over the design of the menu, since you would create it outside of the Websites 360® platform. A PDF menu is also beneficial if you use QR codes, so that users on mobile devices can easily scroll and zoom on the menu.
Here is how you can add a PDF to your page. This is the best option if you would like a more elaborately-styled menu. You can make menu changes in a separate document that you can easily upload to your website.
Please note: if you are using a third-party accessibility widget, it does not cover any PDFs that you upload. You may need to take extra steps to ensure that your PDFs are ADA compliant.
Embed a third-party menu widget
If you would like to use a third-party platform to build your restaurant menu, you can embed it on a page on your website using an HTML block. You would build the menu in the third-party platform of your choice. Then, you can copy its embed code and paste it into an HTML block.
