You can limit a page to only certain visitors by using the password feature. This is very handy when you don't want your page or information found publicly on the web.
Create a password protected page
To set up password protected page:
- Select the Pages tab at the top of the Websites app, then click on the page you’d like to password protect (if you are looking to password protect the entire website, select the Home page. If you are wanting to password protect a single page, click on that page).
- On the right-hand sidebar, select the arrow icon next to Password to expand the section.
- Enable password protection by toggling on Require Password.
- A text field will appear below the toggle option so you can enter a custom password. The default password is "mypassword", but you can change it. When you change the password, it automatically saves and is indicated by a blue checkmark.
Note: In your main Pages area, any password protected page will display a "lock" icon next to the title of the page.
Style a password protected page
After you password protect your page or website, you can modify the appearance of the password form field, the button, or the background of the "lock screen". Note: these are sitewide settings, so the design settings will apply to every instance of a password protected page on your site.
To access the styling options:
- Click Design at the top of your Websites app to open the Design panel.
- On the right-hand sidebar, navigate to the Sitewide tab and select Styles.
- On the sidebar, select Password Protection. The Design preview window will reload to show how a page will appear when it is locked with a password.
- Edit and adjust the elements of your password form, button, and lock screen background. When finished, click Save.
