Launching the content creation process
You can create new posts, stories, or cover images from anywhere in the app by clicking on the "create" button on the bottom-right corner of the Social app. A dialog will open which allows you to select what kind of Content you'd like to create: Post, Story, or Cover Photo.
Name the content
Once your selection is made, a modal will appear that will allow you to create your Content in a single step. First, give your content a Name to identify it in the Content Library.
Select social accounts and platforms
Next, select which social platform accounts the Content will be posted to. Note that the default social platform accounts selected on the Linked Accounts tab of Brand Settings will be pre-selected.
You may also select a social platform without selecting a specific account. This is useful in cases where the Content is created before the social platform accounts are added to your Workspace.
You will have a chance to confirm which social platforms to post the Content to when you schedule the post to be published.
Add media
Next, add Media to be attached to your post. The default Media type is "Image".
Images
Images may currently be added in any combination of 3 ways:
- Uploading from your computer by selecting the files or by dragging one or more files onto the first large card.
- Importing free stock images from Pexels.
- Importing images created via Canva.
Social platforms have varying limits on how many images can be attached to a single post. We currently support adding up to 10 images total. The highlighted social platform icon below each image indicates whether that image will be posted to the corresponding social platform. You may drag and drop images to change their order. Drag the most important images to the first slots to ensure that they are posted to the social platforms you wish to target.
You may remove images that you have already added by hovering over the image you wish to remove and clicking on the "trash can" icon. You may also view the image in a larger format by clicking on the "zoom" icon.
Edit images
After you add images, you can edit them by clicking the "pencil" icon on the image.
You can implement the following edits on images:
- Resizing
- Adding filters
- Adjusting saturation, highlights, shadows, etc.
- Blurring/adding a focus
- Adding a frame
- Adding an overlay
- Adding text
- Adding stickers/emoticons
- Using a brush
Video
Select the Video media type to add a video. Browse for an MP4 video file or drag one onto the drag and drop target.
Next, use the video scrubber to find a video frame to use as the video's thumbnail. Once you find the right frame, click on the "Choose frame for thumbnail" button to set the thumbnail image.
Enter a Video Title for the video to post to social platforms. If you don't enter a Video Title, the first caption will be used by default.
URL
Select the URL media type to attach a link to the post. Enter a URL and click on the "Save URL" button. The Website Image, Website Title, and Website Description fields will automatically populate. You may change any of these fields if desired.
Add Captions
There are two ways to create captions for your post: composing them manually (default) or using CaptionAI to generate them.
Any number of captions can be added to your Content. If you have chosen to recycle your Content (discussed below), our system will cycle through your captions and post them sequentially.
Manually compose a caption
Enter a caption to add. Social platforms have specific character limits for captions. The character counter in the lower right will turn red and indicate any social platforms for which your caption has exceeded the character limit.
You may use the emoji picker in the caption footer to select an emoji to insert. The hashtag count will display how many hashtags that have been added in the caption.
You can utilize saved hashtag groups by clicking on the hashtag icon in the bottom left of the caption box. You can add existing hashtag groups to the caption, or create new ones by clicking Add/Manage Hashtags.
Use a different caption for each platform
Toggle Platform specific captions if you wish to post a tailor-made caption per platform. Toggling this option will display social platform icons above the caption, which you can use to tab through the platforms and tweak the caption for each as desired.
Use CaptionAI to generate captions
Select CaptionAI to use the power of AI to generate captions. You can select a Tone and specify the number of Captions to generate. Next, enter a prompt to instruct the modal of what to write about.
You may toggle the emoji and hashtag options if you wish the captions to include them respectively. You may also toggle Platform specific captions if you wish CaptionAI to generate captions tailor-made per platform.
Click on the Generate Captions button to generate the captions.
A modal with the resulting captions will be displayed, and you will have the opportunity to select any of them that you wish to keep. Click on Regenerate Captions in the lower right of the modal if you'd like to see different options. Click on the Select Captions to import the selected captions to your Content.
Once the generated captions have been imported, you may then manually edit them as desired.
Tag social profiles or pages
You can tag pages on other social platforms in your captions. Note: All platforms (except for X/Twitter) can only generate tags for business accounts/pages, not personal accounts.
How to generate tags on social post captions.
Set content settings
The Require Approval toggle allows you specify whether the Content must be approved before being posted. Note that there is also a Workspace-level setting to require approval for all Content. When this setting is toggled on at the Workspace level, all Content created will default to require approval. Only users that have the proper permissions may override this setting at the Content level.
The Recycle Content toggle allows you to specify whether the Content will be posted multiple times. If your Content has multiple captions, our system will cycle through them sequentially each time the Content is posted. You may limit the recycle instances by either expiration date or by number of posts.
Add content tags
You can use Content Tags to group and identify your Content. Content Tags are flexible in that you can invent your own taxonomy for categorizing your Content. They can also be used to filter Content in bulk actions.
Validate warnings and finalize
Relevant warnings about your Content will be displayed above the action buttons at the bottom of the modal. Typical warnings include incompatible media types for the selected social platforms, issues with the media itself, captions beyond the limit(s) of selected social platforms, etc.
You may save your Content without posting it by clicking Save. You may also select the Save & Schedule button to schedule a post to go out at a later time. Finally, you can click on Save & Post Now if you wish to post the Content immediately.
